Filming In Italy - Tax incentive scheme
Italy has a wonderful variety of locations, and offers a professional film industry with a long tradition.
In 2008 the Italian Government introduced Film Production Tax Incentive scheme. It is
designed to reinforce the international competitive position of the Italian film industry as a whole.
Foreign production companies who choose to shoot all or part of their movie project in Italy,
can benefit from tax credit, local film funds and other advantages.
Under the Italian scheme foreign theatrical motion pictures can obtain a tax credit up to 25% of the eligible production costs.
The law provides tax credits for producers, distributors, movie theater owners, and technical industries.
In addition to the national tax credit, there are also funds available from various local film commissions throughout Italy. These local incentives can be combined with the national tax credit to create an additional savings.
